You can visit a bronze statue of Buddha nirvana of the largest scale in the world and historical temples. For the memento of trip, you can make glass works (glass beads) and frames at seaside atelier. In the town of sushi Tateyama, "Boshu sushi" will satisfy you. Joraku-san Mantoku-ji Temple (statue of Buddha nirvana)

Boshu sushi lunch

Tateyama has abundant catch of fresh seafood. Local residents have been eating sushi a lot since olden times, so there are many sushi restaurant offering sushi for reasonable price. "Tonbo-dama (glass beads) making" at Tateyama Taiken Kobo

Gake Kannon (Daifuku-ji Temple)

Founded by Gyogi in 717. The principal image is a statue of Magai Ju-ichi-men Kannon in Kannon-do Hall of beautiful vermilion-colored butai-zukuri architectural style. This temple has a full view of Tateyama bay.

Observation of vargula hilgendorfii

Please enjoy observing fantastic blue lights lit by vargula hilgendorfii from Tateyama bay multipurpose sightseeing pier. Observation classes are held one to four times a month on Saturday night for free without reservation (please see homepage for schedule).

Akayama underground trench (war remains)

Notable war remains in Tateyama that used to function as a base having various facilities of old Japanese imperial military. Total length of this underground trench is 1.6 km. Guide is free on every first Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. ※Closed on the third Tuesday. Open from 10：00 to 16：00 in March to October, 10:00 to 15:00 in November to February.

Exploring Okino-shima, a desert island
